About Sofia
Hello everybody. :) I graduated from high school this summer and will start university next year, studying a natural science subject. My mother tongue is English, since I grew up in America and was in school there until the first year of high school. During my time in America I offered tutoring for children with learning difficulties, as well as for my classmates and my younger brother. During my time in America I also worked with children as a babysitter. I was also part of a STEM program and have a lot of experience in the natural sciences and computer science. Since I have been in Switzerland, I have been giving English lessons to other high school students. In addition, I have always been one of the best in my class and I am very committed to learning. I have always had a lot of fun at school and would like to pass this joy on to your child or to you. Since my mother is a primary school teacher, I often helped her with her preparations. I already have some experience with the compilation of learning materials and teaching, especially for younger children. I love to teach and would like to make school easier for you or your child.

I basically organize my lessons freely and give the students the opportunity to work on what they have difficulties with. Lessons are kept relaxed and the student can ask as many questions as he or she wants. Only when it comes to the basics do I give more structured lessons. Otherwise, the lessons are designed interactively with lots of exercises, work, discussions and questions of understanding. After an agreement on the subject area, I will put together didactic materials from various learning materials (which I already have from previous tutoring lessons), which will engage the student in the subject. The materials are adapted to the student in terms of age and previous knowledge. If you or the student would like, I can also offer interactive experimental excursions in the natural sciences, as well as exam preparation.
