About Michael
I bring a unique combination of academic science training and real-world classroom experience to my teaching. With a background in molecular biology research and over 15 years of experience teaching at both high school and college levels, I understand not only the content, but also how students learn best at different stages of their education.
My teaching style balances focus and structure with a sense of humor that helps students feel comfortable asking questions and tackling challenging material. Lessons are productive, goal-oriented, and efficient, while still being engaging and approachable.
I am skilled at building strong connections with students, including in remote and online settings—skills sharpened during the COVID era and refined ever since. Whether in person or online, I work to create a supportive learning environment where students feel seen, heard, and capable.
Above all, I am deeply committed to student success. I am willing to go the extra mile to help students understand difficult concepts, prepare for exams, and build confidence in their abilities. With 15+ years of experience teaching high school and college science—including Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, and Cell Biology—instruction is informed by both advanced subject-matter expertise and proven educational practice. As a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology with an M.Ed. in Secondary Education, lessons are tailored to each student’s goals, learning style, and academic level.
Extensive familiarity with AP science curricula and exams, especially AP Biology, ensures focused and effective exam preparation. Students receive targeted support with experimental design, data analysis, and free-response questions, along with strategies for time management and test confidence. This approach has a proven record of strong AP scores, exam pass rates, and students earning college credit while still in high school.
