Dyslexia, dyspraxia, and ADD certainly didn’t make school easy for me, from a young age, I just could not grasp certain concepts when they were explained in a way that made sense to everyone else. On top of that, I felt that no matter how hard I studied, I just couldn’t learn enough of the material to do well.
So I know first hand just how frustrating it can be to feel like no matter how hard you try, you just can not wrap your head around a subject.
It wasn’t until I had a teacher take their time to meet after class to explain the topic in different ways that I finally understood the topic.
The same was true of studying, I was in a study skills course but the study tips just didn’t help me. The professor could see this and met with me outside of office hours to discuss studying as a neurodivergent and those meetings meant I was able to study effectively for the first time in my life.
Study skills and subject matter were both made easy by one person taking their time to help me. I will take as much time as needed to help you and if I can’t make it make sense to you, then that I a failing on my part, not yours.
