About Christopher
Hi there! I'm Chris and I'm a first year medical student at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. I've had a year's experience tutoring science and maths at all levels, with some great results from my clients!
I did my A levels in 2016 and achieved A*A*A in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics respectively, attaining 12 A*s in my GCSEs prior to that. During my gap year I worked at Waitrose, tutored, and volunteered at a refugee camp in Greece for a month.
I love helping people realise their potential and meet their goals; one of my students recently achieved the 13+ scholarship she was aiming for and another jumped 2 grades in his maths iGCSE.
I strive to deliver a bespoke and personal tutoring approach in order to understand each student's strength and weaknesses. I ensure good value for money for my clients by completing all work I set in my own time in order to save time.
I recognise how important good revision strategies & exam technique are in obtaining top grades- I'd love to share some advice on these with you.

When I've tutored in the past, I've found that many problems arise due to the absence of a strong foundation in the subject's basic principles. My clients have told me that my approach of linking back to fundamental concepts has helped them grasp difficult ideas and solve complex problems; it's how I always overcame sticking points too! Having completed A-levels last year and attained A*A*A in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths respectively, I am well acquainted with an abundance of online resources that are very helpful for individual study, on top of what students may be given in class. In order to track a student's progress, I would propose setting topic-focussed tasks at the beginning and end of a topic and measuring the progress. No matter how well one thinks they understand a topic, the most important factor is how well they can apply it in the context of an exam!
A typical session would begin with a brief recap of the previous tutorial, followed by a discussion about topics chosen by the student. I would propose questions to test comprehension as we talk about the subject, writing some concise notes on areas that need improvement. Conclusions of tutorials often involve working on past paper questions together. This structure is just a reflection of a typical session - they can take any structure that the student wants.
Having been accepted into all of the medical schools I applied to, I am in an ideal position to help refine personal statements and give advice concerning applications to medical school. I know how daunting it can be to draft a personal statement, as well as how helpful it can be to gain an input from someone who has successfully made it through the application process.

Christopher is not only highly intelligent, but extremely compassionate, making him the ideal tutor. His previous tutoring results have been excellent, helping students go from struggling with the subject to getting into their first choice schools. I'd highly recommend Christopher as a tutor, you won't regret it!
Christopher has done over 100 hours of private tutoring in the last 2 years and has had wonderful results with his students, gaining consistently 5 stars rating, and helping them boost their grades, gain admission into top schools, and improve their confidence.
He has himself gained straight A*s in all his GCSEs and A*A*A in his A levels, and was accepted into all the medical university programmes he applied to.
His tutoring approach is kind, patient, encouraging and supportive and inspires his tutees to fulfil their potential. I recommend him unreservedly.View more recommendations
