About Brianna

I am currently enrolled at Norco College to complete my general education and to further pursue a bachelor's degree in STEM at a 4 year university. It is important to note that a majority of STEM majors take classes heavily based on mathematics. Throughout high school, I managed to pass my classes with an A. I am currently taking Calculus and passing with an A. As a first generation college student, I understand the difficulty of grasping a subject, especially, during this global pandemic. Furthermore, since I didn't have access to in person tutoring, I struggled learning math and other subjects on my own. With this, I had to seek our resources and develop new study habits to receive a grade I was working for. Thus, my compassion and dedication will undoubtedly serve me well in my future.

About the lesson

Math is something I have a passion for and I would like for people to understand this complex subject and ultimately enjoy performing mathematical problems. I believe it is important for students to have a source to rely on in order to develop better study habits. Thus, if a student ever has a question, as a tutor I would be there until they answer every part of the problem, despite the amount of times it needs to be repeated. Besides, repetition is key to establish comprehension. Math is a subject that cannot just be understood at surface level. It needs detail and explanation. That’s what I find amazing about math. One cannot just accept an answer blindly. One needs to think critically and needs proof to fully understand a concept.

As a tutor, I want my students to develop the correct study habits that fit them by teaching them different techniques to remember concepts. When I teach math, I want to appeal to a students interest as much as I can by making it engaging and fun to learn and for them to understand that once you get a concept down, you are on your way to success. Everyone makes mistakes and there is always room for improvement.
