About Rachel
I currently tutor psychology students across all levels, and I know how statistics is taught at every stage, from first-year research methods to thesis-level analysis. I earned HDs on every stats test during my university degree, so I don’t just know the material; I know how to break it down so it finally clicks.
I specialize in:
1/ Software proficiency: Step-by-step guidance in SPSS and JASP (data entry, running analyses, interpreting outputs).
2/ Output analysis: Learning how to read p-values, effect sizes, and test statistics without getting overwhelmed.
3/ Choosing the right test: The most common hurdle. I’ll teach you how to confidently choose between t-tests, ANOVAs, correlations, chi-squares, and regressions based on your variables.
4/ The “why”: Explanations of assumptions, null hypothesis significance testing, and why we run each specific test.
5/ APA write-ups: How to report your results in 7th edition APA format.
My approach:
I focus on conceptual understanding, not just “click this button.” I’ll help you understand the logic so you can tackle any dataset, whether it’s for a VCE SAC, an undergrad lab report, or your Honors thesis.

Undergraduate and graduate psychology students taking stats courses or working on thesis/dissertation data.
[ What we cover ]
1/ The Basics (SPSS/JASP Navigation)
- Importing data, defining variables, managing missing data.
- Creating graphs and charts that actually look good.
2/ The Logic (Choosing the Right Test)
- The Decision Matrix: If you have [X type of IV] and [Y type of DV], run this test.
Clarifying parametric vs. non-parametric tests.
- Understanding assumptions (normality, homogeneity) without the panic.
3/ The Analysis (Running the Tests)
- Descriptive statistics (means, SDs, frequencies).
- Inferential tests (t-tests, ANOVA, ANCOVA, Repeated Measures, Correlations, Regression, Chi-Square).
- Reliability analysis (Cronbach’s alpha).
4/ The "Complicated Stuff" Explained
- Moderation & Mediation: What is the difference and how do you test it?
- Post-hoc tests: Which one do I pick (Tukey vs. Bonferroni)?
- Outputs: Stop looking for the "red numbers." I’ll teach you what the Levene’s test, Wilks’ Lambda, and Sum of Squares actually mean.

I’m so grateful to have found and joined Rachel’s class. It has truly helped me gain the confidence to break the language barrier with my Korean friends. Rachel’s modules are easy to follow and have made it simple for me to start practicing and communicating in Korean. Thanks to her class, I can now enjoy K-dramas and K-pop with a much deeper connection. Rachel 선생님, 감사합니다!
Rachel is a very experienced and supportive tutor. She has clearly taught me fast to understand the basic Korean phrase. Book lesson multiple time to help me with my assignment.
Rachel mentored my psychology in my first year. at the time i was pretty new to all this psych info and details and at uni the reading content was very unexpectedly heavy, Rachel helped a lot with not just content explanation but time management, study skills and tips.
