The lessons are for elementary students who are struggling with reading (decoding and comprehension) and writing. Each session is structured in a fun and engaging way-starting with a warm-up task, then a review of previous lesson, then the lessons and some exercises (could be in the form of a worksheet or a short quiz). Short movement breaks can be inserted in the sessions, if the student needs it, especially because I believe that each student has different needs-some need a lot of movement breaks and some just need to finish everything in one go.
Most, if not all tasks will be incorporated in fun games or interactive activities. I believe that learning comes after engagement and 100% attention so I usually make each session engaging, interesting and fun for the students.
As for my credibility, I am a Speech-Language Pathologist in the Philippines, and I am now based in Toronto. I worked with a lot of students who had trouble regulating themselves, especially when tasks are hard. I am very patient when it comes to teaching. I am also very understanding and I always try my best to be kind and helpful to my students, especially when they are already having a hard time. Nevertheless, I am still efficient and I like to get things done, and accomplish goals at the end of each session.
