About Amber
Hi! My name is Amber Thompson. I’m a dedicated educator, a proud single mom to two beautiful boys, and a passionate lifelong learner. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching students from Grade 1 through Grade 8, and I’ve even had the unique joy of teaching my own son twice—a truly rewarding experience that deepened my understanding of how to connect with students both academically and personally. I come from a northern community in Saskatchewan, and I carry my Afro-Indigenous roots proudly into my teaching. My background helps me bring a unique, inclusive perspective to my lessons, while also building meaningful connections with students from diverse backgrounds. Outside the classroom, I am a singer and dancer, which often adds creativity, rhythm, and energy into the way I teach. I’m also currently working on writing a children’s book—a project that combines my love for storytelling, culture, and inspiring young learners. Why I’d Be a Great Tutor: I understand kids: as both a mom and a teacher, I know how to balance patience, encouragement, and structure. I make learning engaging: lessons are interactive, fun, and designed to spark curiosity. I’m thorough and adaptable: I adjust my approach to fit each student’s learning style and needs.
