Module: EC2C4 Econometrics and ST107 Statistics
University: LSE
Shubham has been a very helpful tutor! I received tutoring for EC2C4 and ST107 at LSE. We went through any doubts I had on the topics as well as past paper exam questions and they were explained very well, and I understood the topics he taught me. He also has a lot of extra resources, which is great because you can go through things outside of lessons too to reconsolidate your knowledge. I would definitely recommend him as a tutor, especially for econometrics. He was also able to fit me in for multiple sessions, and as many as I needed, which was amazing in the build up to my exam.

I had a fantastic time learning from Shubham as he covered all topics in depth and ensured that I received a thorough understanding and this has significantly helped me clear any doubts I had regarding econometrics. I would highly recommend his services to anyone seeking any guidance with their academics!!

Module: ECO351 Introduction to Econometrics
American University of Sharjah
Just finished my last session with Mr. Shubham and I wanted to thank him for his efforts, understanding, consistency, and overall fun experience. Entering my last semester as a Senior II, I was very stressed about my Econometrics course because I am a Finance major so I didnt have a great deal of knowledge on this course. However, Shubham catered to my every need, supporting me in every lesson for countless hours during the day especially when my midterms were coming up. He would take very early morning sessions as well as very late night sessions with me and for as long as i needed until he made sure i fully understood and learned the material. His teaching methods are sublime, I loved his interactive teaching methods and the video courses he offered that saved me so much time when I really needed it. I went from thinking that i was going to fail my Econometrics course, to getting an A in the course. So if you're reading this and looking for an Econometrics tutor, I can whole heartedly recommend Mr. Shubham to you because he is an amazing teacher and person.

FR1203: Statistics for Finance

I started my course just two weeks before the exam, completely unprepared and with very little understanding of the material. Thanks Shubham I was able to understand the entire content quickly and felt confident going into the exam. He has a remarkable ability to explain complex concepts in a simple and understandable way. Highly recommend

Ginevra - This tutor is very organized and dedicated to teaching efficiently. He taught me a whole course I had to prepare an exam for, not only covering what was in the syllabus but also going over the fundamentals of the subject to ensure I had a good baseline first. Thanks to him, I understood more than I thought I could and was able to go to the exam prepared in time.

Daniel - A great end to a comprehensive collection of sessions with Shubham

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I first got interested in Econometrics and Statistics while studying Economics, because I loved how they make sense of data and real-life situations. During university, I often helped my friends by explaining tough topics in simple, relatable ways. They would tell me I should become a teacher because I made the concepts so much easier to understand.

After finishing my postgraduate degree, I joined HSBC as a business analyst. But just a year into the job, I realised my real passion was teaching. So, I left to become a full-time tutor. Tutoring gives me the chance to work one-on-one with students, simplify difficult ideas, and see their confidence grow. For me, there is nothing more rewarding than helping someone truly understand and enjoy learning.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I mainly teach Econometrics, Statistics and Economics. What I enjoy most is breaking down tricky concepts like regression, probability distributions, and hypothesis testing into simple, everyday examples that students can relate to. I especially like working on topics where students can actually see how the math applies to real-world problems, it makes the subject much more engaging.

I also use visualisations so that students can see what they are learning. Visual tools make abstract concepts easier to understand. For example, I have built visualisations for the Central Limit Theorem, Correlation, Distribution Approximations and Autocorrelation Functions. These help students grasp the intuition behind the formulas and make the concepts much easier to digest.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, my Statistics and Econometrics professor during my undergraduate studies inspired me a lot. I would attend almost all of her early morning lectures, not because I had to, but because I genuinely enjoyed them. She had a way of making complex concepts look simple and interesting and she always kept the class engaged.

What impressed me most was the effort she put into making sure we understood the subject. She never just delivered the lecture and moved on, she would patiently explain, use relatable examples and check if we were truly following along. That personal care and dedication made a huge difference.

Looking back, I realise much of my own teaching style comes from her influence. I try to bring the same clarity, patience, and enthusiasm to my sessions, so my students not only learn but also feel comfortable and confident. She showed me that teaching is not only about knowledge, but also about connection, empathy and making learning a positive experience.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

I believe a good tutor needs a mix of subject knowledge and the ability to communicate it clearly. It’s not enough to know the material, you have to explain it in a way that makes sense to the student. Patience is equally important, because every student learns at their own pace, and it’s the tutor’s role to guide them without pressure.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

Back in college, my friends would often ask me to “decode” statistics problems right before exams. We used to sit in the canteen and I would explain concepts like probability or hypothesis testing using cricket matches or even our snack choices as examples. What started as casual discussions actually helped me realise how much easier it is to learn when concepts are linked to everyday life.

It was fun for me at the time, but looking back, those moments shaped how I teach today. I try to keep things light, practical, and connected to real experiences, so that learning doesn’t feel stressful but instead feels natural and enjoyable.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

When I first started studying Econometrics, the biggest challenge was that it felt too abstract. There were so many formulas, assumptions and technical details that I struggled to see the bigger picture. At times, it almost felt like memorising rules rather than truly understanding the subject.

What helped me overcome this was breaking things down into simpler parts and connecting them to real-life examples. Once I saw how a regression model or statistical test applied to everyday situations, the subject became much clearer and more interesting.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My biggest passion is teaching, especially making subjects like Econometrics, Statistics and Economics simple and approachable. I enjoy taking something that looks abstract and turning it into an everyday example that students can connect with. Back in my college days, I used to explain statistics problems to friends in the canteen using cricket matches or food choices as examples and I loved seeing how it suddenly made sense to them.

That experience has stayed with me and it’s what I enjoy most even today.
  • What makes you a Superprof?

Because I make tough subjects simple, connect lessons to real life and adapt my style to every student. For me, being a Superprof is about more than teaching, it’s about building confidence and helping students actually enjoy the subject.
