About Allison
I was drawn to special education through personal experience, having grown up with a sister who had significant disabilities. This early exposure shaped my understanding of diverse learning needs and led me to a career in special education. Over the past 28 years, I have taught students with significant support needs as well as students with ADHD and mild learning disabilities. I believe building strong connections with students is essential; when students feel heard, respected, and supported, meaningful learning can occur. I approach my work as both an educator and an advocate, ensuring each student receives instruction that meets their individual needs while fostering confidence and independence.

Families choose to work with me because I bring 28 years of real classroom experience as a certified special education teacher, not just tutoring experience. I understand how students with disabilities learn, why they struggle, and what strategies actually work. I have supported students with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities, and complex needs across a wide range of ages and ability levels. My sessions are individualized, structured, and goal-focused, while still being flexible and responsive to each learner. I use evidence-based practices, align support with IEP goals when appropriate, and focus on building independence, confidence, and practical skills that transfer to school and home.
