About Jocelyn
Me llamo Jocelyn! Mucho gusto! (My name is Jocelyn! It's nice to meet you!)
I grew up in a Spanish speaking neighborhood in South Florida, raised by my chilena grandmother and venezolana mother. I found this early years helped me gain an intuition for basic grammar and fluent pronunciation. Since that start, I have refined my Spanish to understand the breadth of learning Spanish, from basic vocab/syntax to advanced writing and formalities and ultimately Spanglish and comprehension.
I love working with kids, and have designed research with children ages 3-8 and did residential counseling with teenagers. I also have been a tutor volunteer for high schoolers for years.

I use customized lesson plans accounting for student's goals, learning/sensory accommodations, and homework as needed, and focused on applying Spanish to engaging interests. A typical lesson would look like a grounding start, identifying goals and challenges, reviewing a lesson, applying it to coursework.
I am a Child Study & Human Development major who brings the lessons I've learned to create an accessible lesson. I grew up hearing Spanish and have completed college level coursework and internships to refine my Spanish.
For elementary, middle, and high school students from beginning to intermediate levels of Spanish. Can be for personal education or to complement for a school class.
