About Andy
I am a Graduate student in Social Work at Mizzou. Classes are online so my schedule can flex to fit yours.
I obtained a minor in Spanish in undergrad and then served with the Peace Corps for 2 years in Peru, where I lived with a local family and conducted community development work, including elementary and high school teaching, entirely in Spanish. At the end of service my Spanish language skills tested at "Advanced Mid" proficiency on the ACTFL scale.
In my free time, I love to run, read, cook, and tend my houseplants (of which there are an ever-increasing number). I'd love to help you learn the beautiful Spanish language! Nos vemos!

I remember the process of learning Spanish, what worked and what didn't. I'll tailor lessons to students' level and develop the basics (vocab, pronunciation, and grammar) before going on to bigger stuff (sentences and verb conjugations).
I'm currently training as a therapist and am excellent at meeting people where they're at. I have experience teaching English to native Spanish speakers, so I can see the process from both directions.
I believe in developing the four primary skills:
- Reading
- Writing
- Speaking
- Listening
Each lesson we will practice all four skills to develop holistic, practical Spanish abilities.
And, most of all, I believe learning Spanish should be fun!
