About Johanna

¡Hola! I am Johanna. I was born in Colombia and am a native speaker of Spanish, I have always been interested in languages and cultures. I became a language teacher during my last years in college before graduating with a degree in pedagogy, I stepped into a classroom for the first time to guide people in their language-learning path in 2007. Since then, I have been tutoring people in English and Spanish for the past 8 years. I have a master’s degree in translation studies from Kent State University where I taught my first official Spanish class as a graduate assistant. I fell in love with teaching my native language and feel grateful that I can now help people around the world to speak it better as they become better language learners.

About the lesson

As a teacher, tutor, and language coach, I put a great effort into creating authentic and engaging material for well-rounded lessons in which the learner is at the center of the interaction. When you become my student, your overall interests become my interests; your goals become mine too. I will challenge you from the beginning to be a good language learner, understand your learning style, and find what best works for you to make constant and measurable progress. I motivate you to talk, communicate, and express yourself in the best Spanish possible. We all have our limitations when it comes to learning a new skill, but I believe that with a structured approach, effort, practice, and constant feedback from both sides, we can cultivate your second language and grow towards proficiency.
