About Karen
I taught for over six years at the University of Minnesota, University of Illinois and University of Miami. I received letters of commendation from my students. I also taught Spanish online for Mango Languages. In addition, I worked for many years for a large multinational corporation in the Latin American division where I used my Spanish is a business context daily. I lived in Spain for a year and have traveled extensively through Central America, South America and the Caribbean. Finally, I also do Spanish translation and interpretation for Danbury Public Schools and tutor locally. Finally, I have experience with heritage speakers and I have seen the students I tutor improve their Spanish skills significantly.

With an MA in Spanish Linguistics, I use the communicative approach for teaching language and enjoy using the real world (videos, books, internet) as ways to engage learners. I tailor my tutoring to the needs of the learner to ensure that needs are met.
