About Rohan
I am a 21 year old student at the University of Bristol. I have been studying Spanish and Italian since the age of 13 and have a strong passion for languages, a passion that has been strengthened after my year abroad. It was on my year abroad (this academic year) where I realised the importance and benefits of learning a language and I would love the ability to help others find their passion and perfect their language skills.

The most important step is to find what the student wants. I have been a tutor and have been tutored and the most important aspect of tutoring is being receptive to student needs- whether they want to pass an exam, develop their passion, learn about a specific aspect of Spanish language or culture...
Lessons need to be structured and organised. It should be split to cover at least two essential skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and homework should be given to consolidate learning (with parents' permission).
Lessons must be engaging and fun. We will never do something in a lesson that the student can do at home and then be marked at a later time. All activities will be engaging and focus on oral skills as this is the only possible time to do it. I prefer to spend 5 or 10 minutes explaining a certain topic, 10 minutes practising and then 10 minutes of 'fun', where we look to apply what the student has learnt in a enjoyable but educational way.
A student must be engaged and that is more important than anything else. Even if the student has not learnt what he has meant to, the most important job I have as a tutor is to keep him/her engaged and interested in the subject. I strongly believe that interested students can do anything whereas disinterested students are nearly impossible to teach.
