About Michelle

Hi! I’m a sophomore at Lehigh University studying Finance and History, with a deep passion for reading and writing. As a lifelong bookworm and someone who enjoys writing for fun, I love helping young learners grow in these essential skills. My tutoring journey began in high school, where I worked with younger students and found real joy in watching their confidence grow. Since then, I’ve volunteered at community centers and participated in NYC’s Saturday Night Lights program, supporting under-resourced youth through tutoring and sports. These experiences taught me how to connect with kids in meaningful ways and adapt to their individual needs. As a tutor, I’m empathetic, patient, and flexible. I bring positive energy to every session and tailor my approach to each student’s unique learning style. I believe in creating a supportive environment where kids feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions, and develop a lasting love for reading and writing. Whether your child is building foundational skills or looking to strengthen their writing and comprehension, I’m here to help them succeed—and enjoy the process along the way.

My Tutoring Approach

I take a personalized, student-centered approach to tutoring. I believe in meeting each student where they are and building a supportive, encouraging environment that fosters growth and confidence. I use a mix of discussion, interactive exercises, and guided practice to help students engage with reading and writing in meaningful ways.

Typical Lesson Plan

A typical session starts with a quick review of previous material, followed by a focused activity tailored to the student’s goals—this could include reading comprehension passages, writing prompts, grammar exercises, or vocabulary building. We finish with a brief reflection or preview of what’s next.

What Sets Me Apart

As a Finance and History major, I bring strong analytical and communication skills to my teaching. I also make learning relatable and enjoyable by connecting reading and writing to students’ interests. I'm patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my students’ progress.

Who I Work With

I tutor elementary to middle school students who need support with reading fluency, comprehension, essay writing, grammar, or creative writing. Whether a student is struggling or looking to get ahead, I tailor lessons to their needs and learning style.
