About William
During his time at Mannes, William has held the principal position on multiple occasions, notably holding the position of principal bass at Alice Tully Hall in 2023 during the World premiere of Adolphus Hailstork's 4th symphony. William has recorded multiple contemporary orchestral pieces such as Adolphus Hailstork’s 4th symphony, Julius Eastman’s 2nd symphony, Alvin Singleton’s Across Differences, Marion Bauer's Symphony No. 1 and Amir Sanjari’s Metropolis. William has played with numerous ensembles including the Mannes Orchestra, The Mannes American Composers Orchestra, the Un-silent Orchestra, the Mannes Opera, The Doctors Orchestral Society, the String Orchestra of Brooklyn and the Press Start Video Game Orchestra. William has performed in great halls such as Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.

William Popfinger is a contemporary Double Bassist based in NYC, currently studying with prominent chamber bassist Lizzie Burns. Williams instrumental studies have revolved around Classical, Contemporary Classical, and Modern music. William specializes in teaching absolute beginners to college level students.
