About Journey
Teaching guitar became the best part of my week because I love watching students finally connect their hands to their inner musical ideas. With 12 years of teaching and a Bachelor of Music from Berklee, I help beginners and intermediate players move past basic pentatonic scales. I prioritize rhythm and feel over technical flash because my goal is to make the guitar a reliable tool for your own songwriting journey.
My lessons cover everything from basic tuning and maintenance to complex fingerpicking patterns and clear chord transitions. I have spent 13 years gigging in blues and rock bands, which informs how I teach reading tabs and sheet music. Outside of the studio, I still enjoy catching live music in local clubs across the Midwest.

Stepping into our first session means grabbing your guitar and playing through a few simple chords to see how you naturally hear melody. We quickly move into how those chords function within a song structure so you stop seeing the fretboard as a puzzle.
It feels like building a house where we lay the foundation of rhythm before we worry about the paint. Since I earned my degree in guitar at Berklee, I focus on how the instrument serves your composition rather than just showing off solo licks.
We address why your specific chord choices work or feel stagnant in your current tracks. This process keeps the focus on your writing as we navigate the fretboard with purpose. You walk away with a clearer grasp on how to turn these patterns into music.
