About Emily
I am a postgraduate student completing a Digital Sociology MSc at the University of Edinburgh - averaging a distinction. I have a first class Anthropology undergraduate degree from UofE.
I feel very confident teaching all areas of Sociology and Anthropology up to undergraduate level. I am new to academic tutoring, however, I do have experience teaching research methods and essay writing skills.
I have 4+ years experience of editing essays, so will be able to teach essay skills and review work for all humanities disciplines. I have 1 year of professional social research experience, so I will be also be able to help with qualitative research methods and dissertation preparation.
Topics I am most specialised in include: General Sociology and Anthropology, Inequality, Technology, Gender, Race, Wealth, Culture, Power, Health, Migration, The Body, Politics etc.

Top Scoring Sociology postgraduate student - averaging a distinction, 70% +. My teaching will be best suited to Undergraduate or A level students looking for a broader understanding of Sociology or Anthropology, or extra help to acheive the highest grades.
I am bubbly and friendly, but also a very good listener. Listening to and answering questions will be the basis of my lessons. I am able to answer any questions effectively and in an easy to understand way. I am very confident in all areas of Sociology and Anthropology, so will be able to bring a high level of detail to my tutoring. I also have a diverse academic background, so can place theories in their wider contemporary contexts.
My lessons will be largely informal, focusing on creating a comfortable learning environment. Each lesson will tackle a key theory/topic that a student wants to look into. They might also tackle a particular question/piece of literature that I will breakdown though discussion and allign with other areas of the subject.
A typical lesson might see me, firstly, explain a topic with the use of written/visual aids. Secondly, and most importantly, this will faciliate a discussion and exercise of critical thinking to help the student engage with particular points of confusion.
I can also give specific lessons on essay writing and argument construction at a slightly higher cost.
The learning experience will always be completely tailored to individual needs.

- I loved chatting with Ei. He is an excellent critical thinker, with a diverse and nuanced understanding of his discipline. He is able to describe his own research topics in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner.
