About Lucy
With 5 years of teaching and performing experience, I am a passionate violin tutor dedicated to helping students grow as confident, skilled, and expressive musicians. I teach school and college students at all levels, from beginners learning foundational techniques to advanced learners preparing for recitals, competitions, and exams.
One of the most rewarding milestones in my career has been guiding students from struggling with posture, technique, or rhythm to performers capable of playing with technical skill, emotion, and musicality.
My teaching emphasises strong technical foundations, including posture, finger placement, bowing technique, rhythm, tone, and intonation, while also nurturing creativity, musical interpretation, and expressive performance.
I integrate music theory, sight-reading, listening exercises, and performance practice to provide a complete musical education. Lessons are personalised to each student’s pace, learning style, and goals, creating a supportive, patient, and inspiring environment. Teaching violin allows me to cultivate confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for music in every student I teach.

I teach violin using a methodology grounded in motivation, communication, creativity, and integrity, aiming to cultivate musicians who are technically skilled, expressive, and confident. Lessons combine structured technical exercises, creative exploration, improvisation, and performance preparation, tailored to each student’s abilities, goals, and interests.
Motivation drives engagement and growth. I guide students to set clear goals, monitor progress, and celebrate milestones, fostering self-confidence, perseverance, and a love for music. Communication ensures lessons are interactive and collaborative, providing a safe space for students to ask questions, express challenges, and explore ideas.
Creativity is central. Improvisation, composition, and interpretation exercises allow students to develop a personal artistic voice and strengthen their emotional connection to music. Integrity emphasises disciplined, responsible practice and respect for learning, helping students establish long-term habits for success.
Alongside violin, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, rhythm exercises, and piano, providing students with a comprehensive foundation in music that supports both academic and performance growth.
