About Chris
Teaching guitar for 8 years has been a journey filled with creativity, growth, and joy. Each student—from early learners to college-level musicians—has their own way of learning and expressing themselves. That’s why every lesson is shaped to fit their personal goals and learning style. The heart of this teaching method is to make music feel easy and fun. Lessons are full of real-life examples, simple explanations, and step-by-step guidance. Whether it's a student playing their first note or preparing a full performance, support is always steady and encouraging. Over the years, students have achieved exciting goals—from joining school bands to writing their own songs. One proud moment was helping a college student build the confidence to sing and play her own composition at an open mic event. It was a powerful reminder of how music can bring out the best in people. Lessons also cover important skills like rhythm, performance preparation, and songwriting. These extras help students become more well-rounded musicians and give them tools they can use in many parts of life. The most rewarding part of teaching is watching students grow not just in skill, but in confidence and passion. Helping someone enjoy music and build a lifelong connection with it is what makes this work so meaningful.

My guitar lessons are rooted in clear communication and understanding each student's learning style. I combine practical playing with music theory and ear training to build a complete musical foundation. We explore chords, scales, fingerpicking, rhythm, and songwriting in real-life contexts like learning favorite songs or analyzing well-known compositions. Each lesson is tailored, whether a student learns best by watching, listening, or hands-on practice.
I use real-life examples and case studies, such as studying how professional guitarists create solos or structure a live performance. By incorporating ear training, students also develop the skill to identify notes and chords by sound, empowering them to play by ear. My goal is to foster confidence, creativity, and joy through the guitar, guiding students from beginner basics to advanced improvisation. Lessons can include acoustic or electric guitar, music reading, and improvisation in blues, rock, pop, or classical styles.
