About Lucy
For the past year, I have worked as a writing tutor at a local college. By far, it has been the most amazing job I have ever had. I love sharing my passion for English and writing with others. Writing doesn't have to be a scary, isolating process, and I love helping students realize that! Seeing their confidence increase from session to session is incredibly rewarding.
I grew up with a mother who was a teacher, and a father who was a journalist. This is where I got my love for both teaching and writing. My mother is a great coach for me, and she helps me make sure I am the best tutor I can possibly be. Through my job at a local college, I have gained tutoring certifications, and I intend to continue obtaining certificates to make sure that I'm a successful, up to date tutor.
In order to maintain my job as a writing tutor at a local college, I have been required to take several college-level English courses and complete them all with a grade of "A." This has taken passion, dedication, and a lot of hard work. Earning various certifications has also taken quite a bit of time. I feel that I am incredibly qualified, and would love to discuss these qualifications with you more.

When I'm tutoring, I make it clear that the student is in a safe space--I am not judging them or their writing, and there are no stupid questions! I've found that this helps the student feel comfortable opening up to me about their work, and also makes them more receptive to my tutoring. I have worked with students from many different backgrounds. I pride myself on being a safe space for students from all different races, sexes, genders, sexual orientations, ability levels, etc. I am also comfortable working with students who have learned English as a second language.
