About Alexis
I am a senior high school student with a 4.5+GPA and I am currently valedictorian of my class. I always excelled in the AP histories when I took them and got 5's on AP World and AP US History. While in the classes, I noticed that I would often need to help other students in my class who were struggling and explain concepts to them, especially regarding the essays. I also have helped my close friends and brother with the classes and have been very successful, so I was inspired to tutor students in order to share my knowledge and help students become confident in their AP history classes.

My teaching method would heavily vary depending on the student and what they struggle the most with!
For instance, if the student is struggling with essays, I would help them analyze student samples (including my own released FRQS!!) to see what people who write high-scoring essays do to succeed (and also look at low scoring ones to help avoid common mistakes). Then, we would work on practicing an essay together before finally I let them loose to try on their own (while still checking it and offering advice).
In contrast, if a student is struggling with remembering the content, I would give them easy tricks to better retain the information, offer resources and tools to help practice and review the content, and help quiz them through practice tests.
These are just two examples, there are many other possibilities and the tutoring plan really depends on each individual student :)
I believe what sets me apart from other tutors is my direct and recent experiences with scoring a 5 in APUSH/ AP World and my previous success in helping family and friends with the class. I also give students access to my released FRQS from the exams in order to help them learn how to write the essays correctly, which I feel is somewhat unique since I can explain my thinking processes during the exam to the student and solidify understanding compared to other AP student samples, which may be more difficult to understand.
