About Dakota

I have worked as a web developer for almost 10 years and have launched numerous features used by hundreds of thousands of users worldwide. Highlights include a real-time auctioning app, a recurring subscription payment service, an internal admin support portal for customer support agents, a migration from Ember to React, and a hand-rolled server-side rendered website with sub-second render time. During my time at the University of Waterloo, I tutored programming privately, in addition to being a teaching assistant for Computational Physics classes. I often work in a mentorship role at my current workplace, helping other developers in front-end paradigms.

About the lesson

In the world of web development, a textbook isn't the way to learn – it's best to get your feet on the ground and build something! Our lessons will consist of building something practical and releasable from scratch. Depending on your experience level, we can start with something simple like a plain HTML web page from the 90s, or we can jump into scalable responsive web applications that comply to accessibility requirements.
