About Gabriel

Hi I'm Gabriel, I'm a highschool senior in my final year of school. Computers have always been fascinating to me, however as many people know, school IST or coding classes just aren't it. They use outdated methods and textbooks that don't teach us anything, that's why I have created a method called "Project Based-Learning", learn as you go.

I come up with real problems and get you to solve them with your knowledge of coding.

I am very fascinated with the idea of computers and artificial intelligence and I have a knack for out of the box thinking and problem solving and will thus try to push my pupils to explore their curiosity and build on their critical thinking skills as well as their problem solving and project planning skills.

Programming is the way of the future, but learning doesn't have to just be reading and copying from a textbook.

Programming is a wonderful skill to have up your sleeve even if you aren't pursuing a career in it, whether you're a young child (or parent) looking to kickstart your interest in programming or a highschool student who's taking an interest, this class is for you.

You'll learn all the basic fundamentals that go into coding and programming languages alike, you'll learn the foundations of programming and how to build off of it for your own projects. Each class will be a mix of theory and practical work, you will be coming up and creating the projects as we go based on issues that are provided.

I'll begin by getting to know you and what you hope to gain from our sessions. We'll set some short and long-term objectives and work towards them each class while having some fun. Each class is tailored to your unique requirements, and we will proceed at your own speed.

Finally, I'm searching for pupils that have a strong sense of curiosity, if this describes you or your child, contact me!

  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first time using a computer was actually when I was only 7 years old, and my first experience was taking the computer apart, of course at that age I only knew how to take it apart and not how to put it back together, but it was the beginning of my computing experience. From there I discovered the art of computer games and I was off, everyday I would use the computer, and everyday I would learn something new, like how the mouse actually works, and how to not get a computer virus.
  • What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

In my opinion, I think not many people understand the intense amount of work and mathematics that goes into machine learning, and as a technological evolution, it is quite an impressive thing, teaching a computer to think in the same way a human does and learn in the same way a human does is something that a lot of people take for granted and don't truly understand. In the future I believe that machine learning will dominate the technological market as everyone is gonna want machines that can perform tasks that humans would usually have to complete, because, and let's be honest, computers can be a lot more efficient and accurate than humans.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

My expertise is robotics and circuitry as well as programming, it has a grave importance in the computer world as programming is the instruction set for every computer. I enjoy robotics and circuitry, it has taught me to use my brain more and has improved my critical thinking, planning what parts I need and thinking about what I can do to make my machines more efficient, I then need to think and work out how I can use code to control my robot. After that it's a lot of building and wiring, and once my physical model is built, it's a lot of coding and testing to make sure it works like I want it to.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

Visionaries such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, they are definitely people to lookup to, most of them started at nothing and built their way up to the tech empires that they are today, however they are not my inspiration, I would have to say my real inspiration is my family, they have really pushed me to be the best that I can be, always supporting me through my learning and helping me set up a space where I can share and tutor people who want to learn.
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Everything is complicated if you think about it too much, if you think IT is too complicated then there is no way you will be able to understand or use it, think about when you learnt to write, it was something new and confusing for you, at the time you probably thought that learning to write was too complicated, but you learnt to write, the same can be said for IT, IT has many features that can make using it as easy as possible, just take a deep breathe and be open to new things, and sooner or later IT will feel natural to you like it does to me.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I am very passionate about gaming, I enjoy competitive and non-competitive gaming, I enjoy playing with my friends and even teaching my younger family how to play. I would say gaming is an escape for me as it allows me to use my imagination and allows me to just disconnect from anything that is, well, serious or important, it allows my mind to rest.
