About Aliena
I am a senior student at Valparaiso University, and am about to graduate this summer after 3 years of study in chemistry. Every semester I’ve been eligible (3 so far) I’ve been a Lab TA, where I act as a student aide to help students with lab concepts when they don’t understand the way the professor explains. I fell in love with teaching students as I had students returning to my section to have my help again, and teaching high school level chemistry has become my ultimate goal.

I teach the sciences in ways that newer students to the subject can understand, including visual aids and analogies to connect new concepts to what you already know. My top priority it making new material approachable and not overwhelming, and I do this by explaining the big picture, connecting the dots to old concepts, and using easily understandable terms to make material less complicated than it seems. For students open to attending in my apartment, I have a large wall whiteboard for written work (which I’ve always found helpful for understanding) and I’m a great cook!
