About Tamika
Spending 9 years singing in venues ranging from dive bars to small concert halls gives me a unique perspective on vocal performance. Truthfully, I never intended to become a teacher until 469 students convinced me I had something to offer. I work with hobbyists and working professionals who want to stop guessing and start singing with intention.
My training is entirely self-taught, which means I prioritize the actual sound coming out of your mouth over rigid theory. I have learned that the best singers are often the ones who embrace their own quirks rather than fighting them.
Having gigged across the Southwest, I understand the pressure of holding a microphone when you are nervous. I enjoy helping people refine their belting technique and find their own harmony lines. It is a strange shift moving from the stage to the instructor chair, but I seem to be settling into the role just fine.

I move through pacing by balancing technical drills with direct feedback on your specific songs. You will learn to manage your stage fear through consistent microphone technique and physical warm up exercises.
My teaching reflects those 9 years of performing because I emphasize rhythm and phrasing as the foundation of every great vocal line. I rely on my self-taught roots to demystify sight singing and articulation, ensuring you understand exactly what your muscles are doing.
Every student gets a custom list of songs that fit their specific vocal range so we can work on performance confidence in a safe space. We will touch on exam preparation if that is your goal, or we can stick to purely functional vocal health for your professional gigs. I ensure that you understand the mechanics of your voice so that you can rely on it night after night. My approach is to keep the energy high while we strip away the bad habits that have been holding you back for years.
