About Michael

I am primarily a self-taught writer and composer of new age and chill out music.

I've been playing and writing music since the day I took piano lessons at just 7 years of age and all I ever wanted to do was write music. As I was learning the piano and the notes, I had this natural ability to put different chords together and write melodies. I'd hear music all the time in my head.

Because we couldn't afford a piano at the time, I was learning on the keyboard and because of the sounds and rhythms the keyboard had, I preferred it to the piano because it enhanced my writing and inspired me to do more. In fact, it was because of the keyboard I learned chords because I was able to play a chord in the left hand with the rhythms and hear the changes as I played melodies in my right hand.

We finally bought a piano 2 years into my piano lessons. And when I upgraded my keyboard (by this point I had several keyboards, some toy keyboards and some intermediate level), it actually displayed what chord I was playing and I even discovered 9th and 11th chords and started implementing those into my own music on the keyboards.

When I graduated the 8th grade, my dad got me my first ever professional keyboard, a Korg Workstation that finally allowed me to actually lay down some tracks and really create.

My second year in High school, I took jazz band and in just a few months, I was able to actually understand the theory of how to implement the 9th and 11th chords into my music and I jumped from a 4th grade level of music knowledge and education to college level because now I'm able to solo across the piano and utilize everything I've learned on my own with what I learned in high school.

What I noticed the most throughout my years in creating music and how easily it came to me was how many people struggled with music theory and chords. I truly didn't understand it and I kept asking myself how did I learn it so quickly on my own and with just a little help in high school I soared in my music, when people who have had years of music training and education by some of the best schools in the country still struggle with it?

It took me 9 years to answer that question. And in addition to designing and setting up recording studios for clients, I also taught music theory and composition to those who really wanted to write and improve their music.

Fast forwarding to the present, music theory and composition has been the basis of my life's work in my music.

I would the opportunity to show you my passion for creating music and teach it to you so you can share your uniqueness of your own musical talent, expression and creativity to the world!

Because I am primarily self-taught, my skillset often goes beyond even seasoned players and composers on both the piano and the synthesizer. I will not only teach you music theory and composition in ways you've never discovered or thought of before, but I'll also teach you how to use your synthesizer, arranger or workstation keyboard.

My lessons are for both novices and professionals alike, who want to delve deeper into the creation of music. If you're just starting out, I'll teach you the basics in music theory with notes, scales, and key signatures and how they turn into chords and melodies.

For the professional or intermediate students, we'll delve deeper into chords and melodies and how music sounds the way it does. Think of it like cooking. Once you have all the ingredients and measurements, how you combine them together and how long you cook them for is directly related to how delicious or bland it tastes according your unique pallet. So I'm not teaching you what to write, I'm teach you HOW to write with the endless possibilities of all the elements that make up a beautiful piece of music!
