About Matthew
I am well practised in scaffolding for every students needs. My job is removing barriers so that everyone has a fair chance at reaching their potential. My students at school say that I am their favourite teacher because I make science understandable and fun. I am also a down to earth, approachable person so students tend to feel comfortable making mistakes and really learning in my classroom.

I am currently in my fifth year working in an urban school in south Manchester with 50% PP and 51% EAL students and an above average intake of SEND students.
My PGCE is in Physics with Maths and my placement school was in Wythenshawe working with students with similar needs and demands.
Prior to teaching I studied Physics at Swansea university after achieving high grades at A-Level.
During my PGCE year I also gained some experience tutoring a fellow students daughter who was taking her GCSEs in separate sciences. I helped that student exceed their predicted grades.
I am fully DBS checked in order to continue my role in the school.
Expect my lessons to be practise based, with an aim to fill in gaps to ensure your child meets and exceeds their predicted grades. We will begin by identifying the areas of the curriculum that need focus and I will produce a unit of work that will focus on these areas. I will employ evidence based teaching techniques such as spaced practise and exam technique to ensure the lessons have their maximum impact on your child's grades.
