About Carrie
I graduated from high school in Year 12 and went straight into the University of Auckland because I achieved all my subjects with Excellence endorsement. I moved to New Zealand when I was thirteen. Therefore, I know strategies for learning a new language or adapting to a unique ability or subject.
I started piano tutoring when I was 15 years old, gaining experience in gaining students' attention and interests and making them enjoy the learning process. Teaching is one of the passions that inspired me to study for the Bachelor of Education programme. With three years of teaching experience in piano and maths, I am confident and motivated to continue my teaching journey.

I value mutual connections between students and teacher, students' needs is crucial for my lessons. I would like to know what they want to work on or their weaknesses before starting my lessons, therefore I can design my teaching plan targeting the area they need to improve. A maths lesson usually between 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs, Mandarin between 1-1.5 hrs and Piano (classic) usually from 1-1.5 hrs.
I played Piano since I was 5 years old and now I'm 19, I had taught 8 students started from 2020, they all aged between 9-14 years old at elementary-intermediate level of piano.
I tutored one Year 9 student in maths so far, she found my one on one teaching valuable and useful for her learning. Especially geometry and algebra.
