About Makayla
I am a second-year graduate student of English with a concentration in Children's Literature. I have not been tutoring for very long, but currently, I am working with a rising third-grader on improving his reading comprehension and spelling. However, my skill set with literature would be better suited for middle/high schoolers.

I am currently in my second and final year of graduate school. I am working towards a Master's in English with a concentration in Children's Literature. I am currently interning for an organization that provides free tutoring for at-risk children. My current tutoring sessions are with a rising third-grader, and we are working on reading comprehension and spelling. I value discussion as well as reading aloud (especially for comprehension purposes). Recently, I have also introduced games for understanding to help the student to relate more and so they will see how learning can be fun. I want to start working with middle/high schoolers.
