About Maya
I have recently completed my first year as an English Literature student at UCL, with commendations for my performance. I have experience tutoring and have always found it really enjoyable. I focus on getting to know my students and the approaches that are best suited to them. Given my age (19), I find I am very much able to relate with the concerns and worries of students, especially those partaking in GSCE’s and A-Levels but I am equally adapt in methods of easing these frets and stresses. My aim is to guide students and help them boost their overall confidence in their English performance.

Given my fairly recent participation in GSCEs (adhering to the newer numbered grading system) and A-Levels; my expertise centres on these mainstream examinations. However, I also have experience tutoring KS1-3 and 11+ curriculum.
My method of teaching consists of; student led discussion about problem areas, general performance assessment, subsequent tailored practise questions and homework’s, and constructive feedback on each activity. Additionally, I ensure the highest degree of accessibility by reading student’s set texts, providing personal and extension notes that put students into the top grading bracket, and encouraging the open and free- flowing exchange of ideas and thoughts.
