About Jonas
My name is Jonas Procter and I am from Portland, Oregon. My parents are from the UK, so I decided to come to Edinburgh for Uni. Outside of my studies I am involved in jiu jitsu, cold water swimming society, and hillwalking society. I have always been drawn to teaching and hope to go into academia/teaching once I graduate. I find that teaching connects me at a deeper level with my subject. I find that the best way to boost performance in exams is to instil passion for the subject in a student. Studying motivated by curiosity will always be more effective!

My lessons take a holistic approach to learning. I want to inspire enthusiasm in the subject, so I make sure there is room for lots of critical discussion. Of course, comprehension and retention of material is the primary focus. For each lesson, I make a comprehensive study guide for the student. I supplement teaching with frequent practice questions from real past papers, so by the time exams roll around the student is feeling confident. Lessons will typically be 45 minutes to an hour, though I can be flexible. Previously, I have tutored at Kumon teaching maths and English. However, biology has always been my strong suit (and passion). Lessons are for anyone at the level of: Nat 5, Higher, Advanced Higher, GCSEs, A-level.
