About Esme
I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in July 2019 with a second class degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology) Bsc. I have a great passion for science and am excited to see where it will take me next.
My versatile and adaptable approach to education along with my enthusiasm for science makes me an ideal tutor for anyone who may struggle with generic classroom environments. I am understanding and empathetic to the range of academic levels and have high humility. You can trust me to listen to what areas you think you need help in. I can also take the initiative to develop lesson plans based on my own analysis of what you may need help in, if thats what you want too.
You can expect a range of teaching methods as I believe variation is key to effective learning. I will help you build confidence in your own capability using structured lessons that will be designed based on evidence of current academic level in a 'feedback system'. You will be praised and encouraged for effort and development as this is also vital for academic growth.
Although I have little experience in tutoring itself, I have previous experience with leading athletics sessions for children and know how to explain ideas in a clear and coherent way. Positive feedback from presentations I have given at university also demonstrates how I am able to keep an audience engaged, a skill important for effective tutoring.
I received some of the best A-level teaching at Hills Road Sixth Form, this has inspired me to provide others with a high quality experience to allow them the same opportunities I had post secondary school and higher education.
Having only recently left full time education, I am in touch with how the current curriculums run. I understand that different children have different goals when it comes to exams and I plan to help you reach those individual goals.
