About Umanda
I am a neuroscientist with a passion for sharing my knowledge with others! I completed PhD in molecular neuroscience at the Queensland Brain Institute (University of Queensland). Throughout my decade-long academic career I have taught students of all levels (in 1-on-1 and/or group settings) including primary school, high school and university students, giving me knowledge in a wide range of subjects and the confidence to give feedback on assignments/reports, guide exam note-taking and preparation.

I have taught students throughout my entire research career. During my undergraduate studies in Science (majoring in Biomedical Sciences) I tutored high school students in maths, english, science and music. I also conducted 1-on-1 and group tutoring for primary, high school and university level students for the company Fruition Tuition. During my PhD, I used my teaching skills to mentor students in the laboratory and teach them molecular biology techniques and behavioural neuroscience theory. These experiences have allowed me to develop my communication skills to explain complex topics and concepts in a simple, easy to digest manner.
I prefer to tailor my teaching to each student as each individual will have their own unique learning style, strengths and areas of improvements. A typical lesson will involve going through topics, tackling past questions and making weekly study goals/plans to improve understanding of concepts and performance on assessment.
