About Neil
An inspirational teacher committed to educating students about the value of science and how it can contribute to improving life for all. An enthusiastic biology specialist with experience of teaching the chemistry and physics curriculum to all year groups of key stages 3 and 4 and all ability levels. A highly reflective individual with a talent for communicating abstract scientific phenomena
The first in my family to go to university, I understand the challenges learners face who only have the school they attend to rely on for their education. If there are distractions in the classroom or the pace of the lessons are too slow, the students are held back so extra support at home is essential.
I have an extensive range of visual resources including PowerPoint presentations on my laptop, videos and animations, diagrams, textbooks, flash cards, worksheets, workbooks and models.
I set regular homework which involves self-assessment by the student in the follow up session to address any errors and reinforce conceptual understanding.
My teaching style involves lots of discussion and feedback for the student to make meaning of the content rather than just rote-style lecturing, note-taking, timed exam question practice and the opportunity for lots of questioning from the student to fill in any gaps in knowledge and study skill guidance.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
While heading up the history department at a secondary school in West London, I recognised that Neil had the exact personal attributes that are suited to teaching; calm but assertive, persuasive, empathetic, eloquent. I suggested he think about going into teaching the subject he studied at University, and after completing his PGCE he never looked back.
