About Aya
I maintain a 4.29 weighted GPA while taking a rigorous academic load, including AP Physics 1, AP Computer Science A, and AP Pre-calculus. My deep understanding of these subjects goes beyond standard classroom walls. As a Junior Captain for Science Olympiad—a program I have been committed to for the past 4 years and am currently still active in—I engineer projects and analyze data under tight deadlines. My track record of long-term commitment is also reflected in my athletic background, having dedicated 12 years to competitive track training.
Furthermore, I am deeply invested in my community. I was a dedicated member of the Girl Scouts, where I earned the prestigious Silver Award—the highest honor for a Cadette, requiring over 50 hours of planning and executing a sustainable community service project.
Through these experiences, I have proven my ability to apply complex concepts to real-world achievements. I have placed 4th at the VA State Science Olympiad for Protein Modeling, 2nd in the TJIOI competitive programming contest, and earned 3rd place at the FCPS Regional Science Fair. You can verify my full background and credentials in the attached file, "Copy of Aya Noori - Resume FINAL(GENERAL) (1).pdf". When you work with me, you are getting a reliable, deeply committed, and professional tutor who knows exactly how to help you succeed.

Teaching Method & Techniques
My teaching methodology revolves around adapting to each student's unique learning strengths to build an unshakeable mathematical and scientific foundation. In fields like AP Physics 1 and programming, rote memorization of formulas or code blocks quickly fails when a student encounters a novel problem type on an exam.
First-Principles & Foundations: I break down complex formulas and algorithms into simple, logical pieces so the student understands the "why" instead of just memorizing steps.
Continuous Check-ins: I never lecture linearly. A major priority of mine is pausing frequently to ensure the student is actively following, allowing me to clear up confusion and pivot explanations in real time.
Socratic Hint System: I guide students through tough problems with targeted questions rather than just handing over answers. This builds genuine self-reliance.
Interactive Code & Visuals: We use collaborative sandboxes to write and debug live code for computer science, and visual diagrams to map out forces for physics, adapting entirely to the student's learning strengths.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Step 1 | Assess & Goal-Set: We start by assessing exactly where you are, identifying your specific sticking points, and mapping out what we want to conquer during the session.
Step 2 | Core Basics: I break down the fundamental logic and essential concepts you need to master that specific topic, establishing a strong foundation before jumping into numbers.
Step 3 | Joint Practice: We tackle the first core problem together, step-by-step, ensuring you fully understand the mechanics behind every move.
Step 4 | The "Lock-In" Problem: You take the lead on a similar problem on your own to apply what you just learned and lock the concept into memory.
Step 5 | Expand or Pivot: With the remaining time, we either dive deeper to expand on that concept or pivot seamlessly to the next high-priority topic on your radar.
What Sets Me Apart
I love to challenge myself, which is why I jumped into hard honors and AP courses early—but it definitely doesn't come easy to me. I face a lot of personal challenges when learning dense, new material, and I know the raw, real emotion of learning because it doesn't come to me easy. I know the frustration of staring at a concept that just won't click. Because I've had to work through those exact struggles myself, I bring a lot of genuine empathy to my tutoring. I understand what you're feeling, and I know how to help you break through those mental blocks.
Outside of class, my involvement in clubs is where I expand my understanding so the knowledge not only applies to the real world but is strengthened. I bring that practical edge and an understanding, peer-to-peer approach to every single lesson.
