About Rahul
I like teaching because I've always loved discovering. I teach in order to spread the joy of learning more about the world and ourselves.
I graduated from a research institute where I got a chance to visit different labs and learn about various experiments that were run on diverse organisms, like bacteria, lab-grown plants, rats, and even human cell cultures.
My master's project was quite innovative. I extracted the DNA of a cancer-preventing gene from a lab-grown plant, and transferred the DNA into a lab culture of human cells (via artificial bacterial infection). The transfer was successful, and the plant gene was seen producing protein inside human cells as if the protein was native to the human cells.
I've always been curious about differences between individual human beings. For example, some of us are great at thinking but slow at execution, while some are fast and efficient workers but need help with planning. I wanted to understand the reasons behind these differences. Works of some great psychologists and neuroscientists helped me find answers to many of my old questions.
I also spent some time learning about the sounds and grammars of different languages across the world and explore the link between words and consciousness. While my major subject in college was biology, my minor was mathematics. I liked mathematics because I saw it as a new language: if you know it, you understand the world through it; if you don't, it can seem useless.
Later on, I also became interested in philosophy, history and politics. I learned many new things but also discovered interesting connections between different subjects that seemed unrelated.
Eventually, I decided to direct my knowledge of biological evolution, mathematics, neuroscience, psychology, history, philosophy, etc. towards education, with the aim of helping others see how immense their potential is, and how many great and deep problems they could solve if they knew about this potential.
I integrate my knowledge from multiple disciplines and help students see connections between the different topics they learn and thus discover their significance, which might remain hidden if the topics are presented as isolated domains. This approach can make learning a deeply meaningful adventure.

I share the stories behind the lessons in my students' textbooks. I tell them how the concepts might help them in life. Whatever new they learn from me will let them go into the world and find it richer.
For any new or advanced lesson, I'll start at the level where my student has a clear understanding and good problem skills. From there, we will build up to reach the lesson's level.
I start a new topic by asking one or two simple quiz-type questions from the previous topic to refresh and consolidate the student's memory.
I welcome questions any time my student feels confused or curious. I will not move on until the current section has been mastered.
Whenever possible, there will be a profuse amount of creativity and imagination involved in learning a concept. Learners will use sketches, paper crafts, exploration of different ways to solve problems, including ways that might be incorrect but will still exercise their thinking.
I'll inspire my students to share problems they've solved out of interest, or patterns they've noticed in the world, based on what they've learnt.
From time to time my students will be encouraged to create their own simple questions, adding their own creativity and proving they've truly understood their lessons.
Towards the end of each class, I'll ask my student to share the best part of the class. This will both improve student's engagement and will serve as feedback for me.
The lesson will be for students from grade 7 to grade 12.
