About Caitlin
The majority of my experience is working as a school psychologist. Through my graduate-level training and experience, I learned how to identify learning difficulties (grades PK through 12), plan interventions to build students' skills in necessary areas, and implement strategies to that end.
Before that, beginning in high school and continuing throughout my undergraduate years of college, I provided tutoring to students working on basic Spanish, basic statistics, and a wide variety of writing projects (including research papers and dissertations, 5-paragraph essays, etc.). My goal as a tutor has always been to leave students with more than just momentary assistance with whatever assignment they need help with by equipping them with new skills that will apply to future work.

My approach to lessons depends on the type of assistance desired. In my tutoring experience, I've held one-time sessions with students during which I provided support for specific assignments. I have also worked with students on a continuous basis to develop specific skills necessary to the subject (i.e., verb conjugation). I have also worked with students toward mastering certain academic/learning objectives (e.g., for a reading intervention, help students memorize a list of vocabulary words, or blend letter sounds).
If helping with academic strategies, I would spend some time identifying the skill needed and then from there I would do activities with the student (which may include, but would not be limited to, homework assignments if desired) to build on skills that need more work. Most of my training is with reading intervention and dyslexia, but I'm also trained in math and writing interventions.
If helping with an essay or research paper, I would help the student through the step-by-step process of creating an outline and then work with them on filling in the details.
