About Nicole

Hi! My name is Nicole, and I am currently a student at Duke University studying Economics and Computer Science. Academics and education have always been very important to me, and I enjoy helping students feel more confident in subjects that may initially seem overwhelming. I personally scored a 1580 on the SAT and understand both the academic and strategic side of standardized testing.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to explain difficult concepts in a clear, approachable, and patient way. I know that every student learns differently, so I try to adapt my teaching style based on each student’s individual strengths, challenges, and goals. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence over time.

Beyond test preparation, I genuinely enjoy working with students and helping them grow academically. My goal is not only to improve scores, but also to help students become stronger and more independent learners. Whether a student is looking for long-term SAT preparation or targeted help in specific areas, I strive to make sessions engaging, encouraging, and productive.

About the lesson

Having gone through the SAT process myself and scored a 1580, I know that doing well is about more than just being “good at math” or “good at reading.” My approach as a tutor is focused on helping students build both confidence and strategy. Strong SAT performance comes from understanding the material, recognizing question patterns, managing time well, and learning how to stay calm under pressure.

A typical lesson involves reviewing key concepts, working through practice problems together, and breaking down strategies for different question types. I tailor sessions to each student’s specific strengths, weaknesses, and goals, whether they are looking for overall score improvement or targeted help in SAT Math or Reading. I also focus on explaining why answers are correct rather than simply memorizing patterns, which helps students become more independent and confident test takers over time.

My lessons are best suited for middle school and high school students preparing for the SAT or looking to strengthen related math, reading, and analytical skills. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and making steady progress.
