About Serena
I am an SAT tutor with 7 years of experience and a PhD in Applied English Linguistics. I enjoy helping students strengthen their reading and writing abilities while preparing them for academic success through supportive and engaging lessons.
My teaching philosophy is based on clear explanations, regular encouragement, and structured learning. I adapt every lesson to individual learning styles while helping students build confidence through meaningful practice and thoughtful discussion.
Outside teaching, I enjoy studying language development, reading modern and classical literature, and exploring public speaking techniques. These interests help me create engaging lessons that inspire students to enjoy learning while achieving their academic goals.

My SAT lessons are designed to help students strengthen the language skills needed for higher education through clear instruction and regular practice. We explore reading comprehension, literacy development, creative writing, English literature, rhetorical analysis, vocabulary building, grammar improvement, textual interpretation, and oratory using engaging passages and simple explanations. Every lesson encourages learners to understand the author's purpose, identify key ideas, and communicate their thoughts with confidence. I believe strong language skills develop through thoughtful reading and consistent practice rather than memorizing shortcuts.
As students continue improving, we work on evidence-based reading, sentence revision, literary devices, persuasive writing, speech organization, critical thinking, timed practice exercises, examination strategies, and structured discussions. I guide learners through each topic with step-by-step explanations while encouraging them to analyze texts independently. Writing activities, reading reviews, and personalized feedback help students improve accuracy, confidence, and communication throughout their preparation.
My goal is to help students become skilled readers, effective writers, and confident communicators. Every lesson develops language proficiency, analytical thinking, and academic confidence that extends well beyond the SAT examination.
