About Elena

I am a Russian-trained concert pianist and teacher with 23 years of teaching experience and more than two decades of professional performing experience.

I graduated with honours from the Academic Music College at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and from the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. I also completed postgraduate studies at the Gnessin Academy and later taught there for several years.

As a soloist and chamber musician, I have performed in concerts, festivals and international tours across Europe, Asia, South America and the CIS. My professional work has also included masterclasses, competitions and jury work.

I am a First Prize winner of the Salieri-Zinetti International Chamber Music Competition in Verona and the Max Reger International Chamber Music Competition in Karlsruhe. I have also recorded two chamber music CDs for the Russian classical label Melodiya.

My teaching is rooted in the Russian classical tradition, in which technique, listening, musical thought and artistic expression are developed together. I translate this professional training into clear and practical work appropriate to each student’s level.

I work with adult beginners, returning pianists, advanced amateurs, motivated teenagers, and students preparing for AMEB, ABRSM or Trinity examinations, auditions and performances.

My aim is not simply to increase the amount of repertoire a student can play. Each new piece should become both an artistically convincing result and a step towards stronger reading, better rhythm and technique, a more refined ear, clearer musical understanding and increasingly independent work.

A student can learn one piece after another and still remain dependent on the teacher. The repertoire grows, while note reading, rhythm, technique, listening, memory and the ability to practise independently may remain underdeveloped.

My lessons are designed so that the piece and the pianist develop together.

Many adults and teenagers have previously been taught mainly through repertoire or exam programmes. Underneath the prepared pieces, familiar gaps often remain: slow or insecure reading, unstable rhythm, poorly organised technique, weak coordination, limited understanding of the score, and no reliable method for practising between lessons.

Reading, rhythm, coordination, technique, listening, memory, harmony, form, phrasing and expression are therefore developed as parts of one musical system, through the music the student is learning.

Before the fingers begin to repeat, we first read, hear and organise the material. We identify patterns, rhythm, texture, harmony, formal structure, the direction of the phrase and the sound or character we want to create. We then work phrase by phrase, connecting musical intention with movement and technical organisation.

This does not replace practical playing or artistic work. It gives both a clearer purpose. Technique serves sound and freedom; understanding of the score serves expression; and every completed piece should leave the student better equipped to approach the next one.

For beginners, this means developing secure reading, rhythm, coordination, listening and healthy technical habits from the start. Returning and continuing pianists rebuild missing foundations and learn to organise their practice more effectively. Advanced students refine sound, technique, structure, interpretation, memory and performance reliability.

I prepare students for AMEB, ABRSM and Trinity examinations, as well as auditions, performances and demanding classical repertoire. Exam preparation includes the underlying musical and technical skills required for the level, not only the polishing of a fixed programme.

The free introductory lesson offered by Superprof is used to discuss your goals, previous experience, lesson format and whether this approach is the right fit. The first full working lesson includes an assessment of your current foundation, repertoire and practice habits. Afterwards, you receive a concise written summary of the main priorities and direction of study.

Regular lessons are intended for students who value consistent weekly work and long-term musical development rather than occasional correction of isolated pieces.

A small number of regular weekly places are currently available for the remainder of 2026.

Lessons are booked as a reserved weekly slot and paid in monthly blocks of four lessons in advance. This allows the work to remain consistent and focused, which is especially important for students who want real long-term development rather than irregular, fragmented lessons.
