About Eren
I’m a pianist and composer specialising in improvisation, with a background in jazz and composition for screen.
Alongside my work as a composer and performer, I work with students from committed beginners to professional musicians - including gigging artists and electronic producers - helping them develop a deeper, more practical understanding of harmony, improvisation, and technique across a range of contemporary genres, including jazz.

Soirée d'Or Scholar, Clifton Parker Award
• Conservatory of Amsterdam - Master of Music (MMus) in Composing for Film

My work as a composer has been featured in films and at international festivals including San Sebastian, IDFA, Palm Springs, and Sheffield Documentary Festival. Selected projects include Two Places at Once (starring Reda Elazouar and Mia Threapleton), Scenes with My Father, and Naziha’s Spring (IDFA Audience Award winner and Netherlands Film Festival Golden Calf nominee).

- What experience levels and styles do you teach?
Over the years, I’ve worked with students aged 5 to 65, of all levels—from complete beginners to advanced players — offering lessons in piano, jazz, improvisation, theory, harmony, composition, and music production—tailoring each session to the student’s goals and musical taste. Whether you're into Bach, The Beatles, or writing your own music, I’ll build a step-by-step curriculum just for you.
- Do I need to be able to read sheet music to start lessons?
Students don’t need to be able to read standard notation to get started. I regularly teach using chord symbols and ear-based methods, helping students develop fluency, confidence, and creativity—whatever their background. Lessons often integrate ear training, improvisation, and music theory in a relaxed, supportive environment. For students interested in a more traditional foundation, I also teach methods for improving sight-reading and offer a gentle introduction to classical notation, tailored to each student’s pace.
- What subjects do you offer lessons in?
• Piano, keyboard (beginner to advanced level)
• Music theory (intervals, scales, chord degrees and structures)
• Improvisation (scales, church modes)
• Introduction to chord symbols
• Jazz harmony and two-hand voicings
• Ear training
• Listening and analysis (from Bach to The Beatles)
• Composition
• Songwriting
• Music software (Sibelius, Logic Pro)
• Music production and hardware equipment (synthesizers)
• Audition preparation for film music programmes

I've known Eren through superprof and have been taking class from him ever since. Although I started with just expecting to learn some basic piano, his versatile style and passion for music has had a great impact on me and prompted me to look into a whole new world of possibilities. Highly recommended for people wanting to take a step further on their music or just being interested and wanting to know more.
Eren is a great composer and a very knowledgeable and patient teacher. He always gears his lessons towards the individual goals of the students and explains his vast knowledge in very straight-forward and understandable terms. He is equally at home in jazz and pop music, analysing classical scores and film composing/production. I can highly recommend his lessons.
I have had several music teachers in my time but Eren definitely stands out - not only is his demeanour friendly and approach to piano teaching exemplary, he is able to tailor the sessions exactly to what you need whether it be passing a music exam, learning how to compose, or simply learning how to play from the beginning. I sought Eren specifically to learn jazz piano and within a month or two, I had not only grasped the basics but because of his enthusiasm and dedication, I learnt so many things about music that inspired me and that keep me inspired me to this day. In addition to this, as somebody who aspires to compose music one day, it was incredibly useful to have a teacher such as Eren (who actively composes music himself) because I knew if I ever had any issues with my own work, I could turn to him for advice.
It's a pleasure to recommend Eren as a piano teacher. As someone who had studied classical music, and self-taught blues/boogie-woogie, I wanted to branch out and learn jazz piano. It was really hard to start, but gradually, and through well-chosen exercises he got me to start to understand how jazz works. I still have a very long way to go, and I've now moved house away from him, but I will be eternally grateful for Eren's grounding in this complex topic. Thank you Eren! By the way, he doesn't just teach jazz. He seems to possess a deep knowledge of many musical styles, which I think really helps give a broad context when learning one style in particular.
