About Kate
Hello! I am a recent graduate of Cambridge University, having achieved an undergraduate degree in Education with English Literature, and I have a passion for reading, learning and helping students achieve their full potential in English. I have had a considerable amount of teaching experience - both at primary and secondary school levels - and am currently undertaking a PGCE in Secondary English Language and Literature at Oxford University. Alongside my studies, I have a passion for singing, and will be pursuing an MA in Vocal Performance this coming September at the Royal Academy of Music in London. As I am currently undertaking a PGCE in Secondary English, I am aware of all the recent changes in the grading of GCSEs, KS3 exams and A-level exams. Therefore, I know exactly what is needed to achieve high marks. Therefore, I am aware of all the recent changes in the grading of GCSEs and in exam questions, and know what is needed to achieve high marks. I have also worked as a teaching assistant, where I led after-school reading groups and exam preparation classes for a range of year groups. Here, I helped the students feel at ease and confident with a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction texts. Having grown up in Belgium, I am also fluent in French and have a strong working knowledge of Spanish; I would therefore be very happy to help out with difficulties in these subjects areas too.
