About David
I am a RIBA Chartered architect and co-director of a London practice I co-founded after more than a decade in the profession. My career has run from architect to associate and design lead at established practices before setting up my own studio.
I have worked across residential, commercial, hospitality and cultural projects, taking buildings from first sketch through planning, technical design and construction on site. That full-project view is what I bring to tutoring: I can explain not only what good architecture looks like, but how it is actually produced, defended and built.
I tutor because the gap between academic work and real practice is wider than it should be, and I enjoy helping students close it with clear, honest feedback they can act on.
As I am new to the platform, I'm extending an offer to new students. Two complimentary one hour sessions to the first 3 students to use my services, with no ongoing commitment.

Tutoring grounded in reality, not just theory. Over 15 years as an architect, associate, design lead and now practice director, I have worked on projects across the UK spanning multiple building typologies, and I bring that experience directly into how I teach.
Each session is shaped around your own project, portfolio or deadline rather than a fixed syllabus, with one-to-one feedback and crits at its core. Depending on what you need, we can focus on design development, professional practice, Revit, visualisation, architectural theory, or dissertation structure and argument.
Sessions typically run for one hour, with longer blocks available for portfolio reviews or dissertation work.
My background includes RIBA Chartership, degrees in architecture (BA, MA, BArch and PgDip), alongside the practice experience above.
Lessons suit school leavers and foundation students, undergraduates (Part 1), postgraduates (Part 2), anyone preparing a portfolio or strengthening a dissertation, and professionals looking to upskill for a job search or career development.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
David is an exceptional architecture tutor, and I can't recommend him highly enough. His knowledge spans the entire field — from the history and theory behind architectural movements to the technical, practical skills you need to actually design and build. He has a real gift for connecting the two, helping you understand not just how something works, but why it matters.
What stands out most is his genuine passion for the profession. It comes through in every lesson — he's the kind of teacher who gets excited explaining a concept, and that enthusiasm is infectious. He's also incredibly attentive, taking the time to understand exactly where you're struggling and adapting his approach so it actually clicks, rather than sticking to a rigid script.
He communicates complex ideas clearly and patiently, and he's always encouraging without ever being condescending. Beyond being a brilliant tutor, he's become a good friend — supportive, easy to talk to, and someone who clearly cares about his students' progress and confidence.
If you're looking for someone who can guide you through architecture with real depth, patience, and enthusiasm, David is the person to learn from. I'd recommend him without hesitation.View more recommendations

My standard rate is £50 per hour for one-to-one tuition, online. In-person tuition within London Zone 1 - 4 carries a travel charge of £10; sessions further afield are by arrangement.
Sessions usually run for one hour. Longer blocks for portfolio reviews or dissertation work are charged pro rata at the same hourly rate and agreed in advance, so you always know the cost before we start.
For students booking regularly, I offer a 10% discount on blocks of five lessons or more.
There are no additional materials fees. For Revit sessions you will need the software installed on your own machine, which students can do free through Autodesk's education licence.
Rates reflect tuition from a practising RIBA Chartered architect, with feedback grounded in current professional standards rather than academic theory alone.
