About Bongekile
Growing up in a rural area was quite difficult. My grandmother knew nothing about education and I realized that teachers themselves couldn’t express their thoughts in English. I am originally from Johannesburg and seeing this as a child, touched me very deeply. I could sense that something wasn’t right and that something had to be done. I’d try to help my teachers with corrections but it resulted in me being berated. I shrunk myself so I could fit in because I wanted to be accepted but that led to me losing interest in my education. At home I would complain but no one understood. Fast forward to today, I realise the importance of having someone who understands and wants to help. I promised myself that I would be that person for any child or adult who needed it. From there my love for teaching was born.
