About Karen
I taught middle and high school English for thirty-five years. I have tutored privately while teaching in the classroom. I have taught academically gifted students as well as students who have specific learning disabilities. I have former students who have earned doctorate degrees in English and writing. Many of my former students have become teachers themselves, including my own son. I have confidence in my ability to assist any students who ask for help.

In my past experience, I have tutored elementary students to college students...mainly in person. I am willing to tutor virtually, as I have access to a Zoom account through the NC Council on the Holocaust, with whom I also work parttime. I use a variety of strategies to assist students in this content area.
