About Marc
My name is Marc Howells and I live in Wales in the United Kingdom. I am married with a 20-year-old daughter and a 15-year-old son. I have a 30-year teaching career which includes nine years as a Deputy Headteacher and the last eleven years as a Headteacher of a large primary school. I have recently taken early retirement from my Headteacher post and I hope to continue in the field of education by teaching children online.

Over a 30-year teaching career I have gained significant experience of Singapore Maths style strategies that involve children using visual apparatus and methods to explore a range of mathematical concepts. As part of my online tuition sessions pupils will use their own resources including Cuisenaire rods and Numicon (which can be purchased at low prices on Amazon). The pupils will also be shown how to draw Bar Method diagrams to help them visualise and calculate a range of mathematical concepts. As part of international and European Union educational projects I have led teacher training in countries including China, Lesotho, Poland, Greece, Turkey, France and Romania in these strategies.
