I believe in a sound foundation, and learning across the curriculum. Having taught Introductory classes in many disciplines, I know that basic reading, writing, grammar and comprehension skills are absolutely necessary for future academic and professional success. I incorporate and reinforce basic skills in every class, and build on student strengths to overcome weaknesses using varied media/historical sources. I prefer quality over quantity (i.e archery over shotgun), and introduce concepts and discipline development in logical progression. I have no political or social agendas and do not propagandize. I want student to think, reason, and create, not parrot or babble nonsense. I believe there is a basic general education all people need to have to survive in the 21st Century, and this includes an acquaintance with many different areas. For example, every American citizen ought to have read the Constitution at least once, and attended a local governing body's (city council, school board, etc.) meeting at least once. As for collaboration, yes. But every student is responsible fr his individual performance.
