About Riyanka
Hello! I’m an Engineering graduate currently a doctorate student at the University of Mancjetser, based in Manchester, teaching Applied Science and Mathematics to secondary and senior-level students. My passion for teaching comes from my belief that strong foundations in maths and science help students think critically and solve real-world problems with confidence. I take a student-centred and practical approach, making complex ideas simple and engaging through real-life examples. My lessons combine clear explanations, interactive discussions, and problem-solving practice to strengthen understanding and build long-term confidence. Each session (typically 60 minutes) is structured to review key concepts, apply them through examples, and end with feedback and reflection. I have experience supporting students through GCSE and A-Level preparation, helping them achieve better grades and a deeper appreciation for the subjects. Above all, I aim to make learning enjoyable, meaningful, and empowering — helping every student reach their full potential.

As an engineering graduate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, I take a structured yet engaging approach to tutoring Applied Science and Mathematics for secondary and senior-level students (typically aged 13–18). My primary goal is to make complex scientific and mathematical concepts clear, relatable, and enjoyable through practical applications and real-world examples. I use a student-centred approach, beginning each lesson by assessing the learner’s current understanding and learning style. My sessions combine conceptual explanation, guided practice, and problem-based learning — encouraging students to think critically rather than memorise. I also integrate visual aids, simulations, and case-based examples to connect theory with practice, especially useful for topics like trigonometry, and applied sciences. Emphasise interactive questioning, step-by-step reasoning, and regular feedback to build both knowledge and confidence. My teaching focuses equally on exam preparation and developing long-term understanding, ensuring that students can apply what they learn independently. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, divided into three parts: 1. Concept introduction and recap (15 mins) – Review previous material and introduce key ideas. 2. Practice and application (30 mins) – Work through examples, problem sets, or experiments together. 3. Review and reflection (15 mins) – Summarise learning, clarify doubts, and assign short follow-up exercises. I also choose to offer extended 90-minute sessions for advanced students or topic revisions before exams. I hold an Engineering degree, which has given me a strong foundation in applied mathematics, physics, and analytical methods. My engineering background allows me to bring an applied, problem-solving perspective to teaching — linking textbook theory to practical, real-world applications. My lessons are tailored for: Secondary and senior-level students (GCSE to A-Level) studying Mathematics, Physics, or Applied Science. Students preparing for GCSE, A-Level, or entrance exams who need focused academic guidance. Learners seeking to build confidence, strengthen fundamentals, or bridge gaps in understanding.
